Tim Burchett: Aliens Are Real and Have Made Contact
Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican from Tennessee and one of Congress’s most outspoken advocates for UFO and UAP transparency, has made his strongest public statements yet on the so-called phenomena. He claims the government has direct knowledge of extraterrestrial contact and has accused the Pentagon of continuing a decades-long cover-up.Appearing on TMZ Live on April 6, 2026, Burchett stated that a member of the government along with other officials and military personnel have told him that extraterrestrial beings are real, have visited Earth, and have made direct contact with humans. He has not personally witnessed the beings or craft but says he trusts the sources who briefed him. Burchett added that he has seen no evidence these visitors pose any threat to the American people.
In a Newsmax interview aired on April 1, 2026, Burchett revealed he had received an explosive classified briefing just two weeks earlier. He described the information as so significant that releasing it publicly would have set the earth on fire and this country would have come unglued. He told host Rob Finnerty that if the public saw what he has seen in these classified briefings, they would be up at night worrying about or thinking about this stuff. Burchett, who serves on the House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, has grown increasingly vocal about what he calls a multi-decade government and private contractor cover-up of UAP information. He expressed deep frustration saying he is sick of it and told President Trump to release it all. He also made the pointed remark, for the record, I am not suicidal.
Burchett is backing up his words with action. On April 6, 2026, he introduced H.R. 8197, a bill that would terminate the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) within 60 days, redistribute its functions, and prevent the creation of any new centralized UAP office.
He views AARO as ineffective at best and obstructive to real transparency at worst. The full bill text is available on Congress.gov. Burchett has been a consistent voice on this issue for years, helping push for public hearings and greater congressional oversight. His latest comments come amid renewed public and congressional interest in unidentified aerial phenomena.
Whether his latest push will lead to meaningful transparency remains to be seen, but the Tennessee congressman continues to be one of the few elected officials willing to speak publicly about what many in Washington have only discussed privately.
