Southern Television Broadcast Interruption (1977)

The Southern Television broadcast interruption of November 26, 1977, remains one of the most mysterious events in television history. This incident, in which an unidentified voice interrupted a news broadcast in southern England, has been the subject of debate and investigation for decades. Many believe the transmission could have been an authentic attempt at communication from an extraterrestrial or NHI source.
On the evening of November 26, 1977, viewers watching Southern Television’s evening news were met with an unexpected and eerie occurrence. As the broadcast continued as usual, the audio was suddenly replaced by a deep, distorted voice claiming to be a representative of the “Ashtar Galactic Command.” For approximately six minutes, this voice delivered a message warning humanity of impending dangers and urging a shift towards peace and spiritual evolution. The visual component of the broadcast remained unchanged, leading many to speculate that the transmission had been hijacked via an advanced VHF signal override.
Despite multiple investigations, the true source of the interruption was never identified. Some reports suggested that a well-coordinated prankster with advanced broadcasting knowledge could have pulled off such an event. However, no individual or group ever claimed responsibility.
There are real reasons to believe that this message was real from an interdimensional being.

This is the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. For many years, you have seen us as lights in the skies. We speak to you now in peace and wisdom, as we have done to your brothers and sisters all over this, your planet Earth.
We come to warn you of the destiny of your race and your world so that you may communicate to your fellow beings the course you must take to avoid the disaster which threatens your world and the beings on other worlds around you. This is in order that you may share in the great awakening, as the planet passes into the New Age of Aquarius. The New Age can be a time of great peace and evolution for your race, but only if your rulers are made aware of the evil forces that can overshadow their judgments.
Be still now and listen, for your chance may not come again.
All your weapons of evil must be removed. The time for conflict is now past, and the race of which you are a part may proceed to the higher stages of its evolution if you show yourselves worthy to do this. You have but a short time to learn to live together in peace and goodwill.
Small groups all over the planet are learning this and exist to pass on the light of the dawning New Age to you all. You are free to accept or reject their teachings, but only those who learn to live in peace will pass to the higher realms of spiritual evolution.
Hear now the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. Be aware also that there are many false prophets and guides operating in your world. They will suck your energy from you—the energy you call money—and will put it to evil ends and give you worthless dross in return.
We are deeply concerned about you and your path towards the light and will do all we can to help you. Have no fear; seek only to know yourselves and live in harmony with the ways of your planet Earth. We of the Ashtar Galactic Command thank you for your attention. We are now leaving the plane of your existence. May you be blessed by the supreme love and truth of the cosmos.
The message delivered by “Vrillon” is striking in its tone and content. It warns humanity of impending self-destruction due to conflict and environmental destruction, aligning with themes commonly found in UFO contactee literature. The mention of the “New Age of Aquarius” suggests an esoteric or spiritual underpinning, reinforcing the idea that the message was not just a warning but also a call to higher consciousness.
The transmission also speaks against materialism, identifying money as an instrument of control by “false prophets and guides.” This part of the message reflects themes present in many alternative theories regarding hidden powers manipulating human society.
Despite the seemingly benevolent nature of the message, some researchers argue that if an extraterrestrial or NHI civilization wished to communicate with humanity, an unauthorized television hijacking might not be the best method. Yet, if this was an authentic alien broadcast, it suggests an awareness of our communication systems and a desire to reach the masses directly.
Many people who witnessed the Southern Television broadcast interruption on November 26, 1977, focused entirely on the eerie message allegedly from the Ashtar Galactic Command. However, what followed the transmission was just as curious—Falling Hare, a 1943 Merrie Melodies short featuring Bugs Bunny facing off against a mischievous gremlin sabotaging a military aircraft. While dismissed by many as mere coincidence, the choice of this cartoon, immediately after an unexplained hijacking of the airwaves, presents an interesting synchronicity. The themes of technological interference, unseen forces at work, and both the interruption and the cartoon itself raise deeper questions about the nature of what was really being communicated that evening.
Falling Hare” is a 1943 Merrie Melodies short directed by Bob Clampett. In this cartoon, Bugs Bunny encounters a mischievous gremlin sabotaging a military aircraft during World War II. The narrative centers around Bugs’ attempts to thwart the gremlin’s efforts, leading to a series of comedic and chaotic events. The title is a play on words, referencing both the act of “falling” and “hare,” relating to Bugs Bunny himself.
The concept of “gremlins” has historical roots in World War II, where pilots and aircrews attributed mechanical failures and unexplained malfunctions in aircraft to these mischievous creatures. Gremlin Surveillance Technology suggests that the military has adopted this terminology in modern times, possibly acknowledging that unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) or anomalous entities may actively interfere with technology and surveillance systems. This aligns intriguingly with Falling Hare, where Bugs Bunny encounters a gremlin sabotaging a military aircraft, reinforcing the idea that these entities—once considered folklore—are now being seriously studied within defense initiatives.

What is even stranger is that if Mandela Effects are real and a timeline change did occur, then Looney Toons was the original name, perfectly matching the playful wordplay of Merrie Melodies. The shift to Looney Tunes appears to be an anomaly caused by a timeline adjustment. Many remember Toons because it logically aligns with cartoons, and the mismatch with Merrie Melodies makes little sense, given that both were created by Warner Bros. This suggests an alteration in reality, where the original Looney Toons branding was overwritten in this current timeline, causing widespread collective confusion that made us take notice.
The message delivered by Vrillon referenced the coming Age of Aquarius, a period believed by astrologers to signal enlightenment and spiritual advancement. This idea aligns with the counterculture movements of the 1960s and 70s, which emphasized peace, universal love, and cosmic awareness. The broadcast also resembled the teachings of UFO-based spiritual movements, particularly those associated with figures like George Van Tassel.
Van Tassel claimed that in 1952, he established telepathic contact with an extraterrestrial known as Ashtar. He described being invited aboard a spacecraft through an anti-gravity beam that lifted him into the ship. Once inside, he saw a metallic craft about 18 feet in diameter and 10 feet high to the domed ceiling. The ship was occupied by three men in addition to the one who had escorted him aboard. Van Tassel stated that these beings were approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, appearing like healthy, tanned white humans. He said they could walk unnoticed among people on Earth without drawing attention. According to Van Tassel, the man who invited him aboard did not appear older than 28, yet claimed to be over 700 years old in Earth time.
The Vrillon message closely mirrors Van Tassel’s accounts and those of other contactees from that era. It spoke of a need to abandon destructive technology, particularly weapons, and follow a path of peace to progress spiritually. This theme was central to many messages attributed to Ashtar and the so-called Ashtar Galactic Command. The connection between the broadcast and the broader UFO movement suggests an effort to communicate with humanity about its future. Whether interpreted as a genuine NHI warning or an advanced intelligence reaching out, the Vrillon transmission remains a significant event in the history of anomalous broadcasts.
