A newly released batch of NSA “Top Secret Umbra” documents contains a striking description of an object that “looked like a large star.” The witness stated it was “impossible to be an aircraft,” moved vertically at high speed and altitude, and repeatedly turned around while emitting a white luminous light with a slight bluish tint.
The files were obtained by the Disclosure Foundation through a FOIA appeal and released on May 18, 2026, with the official PURSUE second tranche following on May 22.
The description appears on Message #08426221 and related entries within the NSA production. The witness described an unidentified flying object “going up and down vertically,” which he said was “impossible to be an aircraft.” The object reportedly moved at a fast speed and very high altitude while repeatedly turning around. The witness stated that he saw the object clearly and described it as having a white luminous light that was “a little bluish in color.” The report also explicitly states: “It looked like a large star.”
That description matters because it goes beyond a passive light in the sky. The report describes movement, altitude, and repeated directional changes. In other words, the witness was not just seeing something bright. They were describing behavior.
A separate entry in the same NSA production, Message #0882874, describes multiple unidentified flying object sightings with even stranger details. One report describes an object “having a luminous radiation of 22 meters extending in a spiral form from a black center.” The object was reportedly observed between three and four thousand meters altitude before gaining altitude and traveling east “without noise.” A second object following the same trajectory was later seen at a higher altitude.
These details are important because they show recurring star-like, luminous, and spiral-shaped object descriptions appearing in multiple NSA Cold War-era SIGINT reports rather than a single isolated account. One of the most important modern cases connected to this discussion was officially released on May 8, 2026, when DVIDS posted DOW-UAP-PR38, titled “Unresolved UAP Report, Middle East, 2013.” The video was submitted by United States Central Command to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, or AARO. It consists of one minute and 46 seconds of infrared footage from a U.S. military platform at an undisclosed Middle East location in 2013.
DVIDS describes the footage as showing “an area of contrast resembling an eight-pointed star with arms of alternating length.” At 00:10, the sensor field of view narrows to zoom in on the contrast area. From 00:11 to 00:29, the area moves inside the sensor field of view and is followed by a visible trail. At 00:30, it exits the frame at the bottom right. After an apparent cut, from 00:35 to 01:44, the contrast area remains generally in the sensor field before leaving through the upper-left portion of the frame.
But the NSA report is different from a simple image. It is a written witness account describing a luminous object that “looked like a large star,” moved rapidly, shifted vertically, and turned repeatedly. That combination of shape and behavior is what makes the entry stand out.
Multi-pointed star-shaped UFOs form a distinct and relatively rare morphological category, often described as starburst, chandelier, spiky star, stellated, or ornate cruciform objects. There is clear imagery that emerged in early April 2026 depicting an eight-pointed starburst object with sharp radiating arms and a textured central body.
