Insignia on UFOs

Over the years, numerous reports and sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have been documented. These sightings are often accompanied by detailed sketches, photographs, or descriptions of the objects witnessed. Symbols or insignias on UFOs, such as the one described by Deputy Marshal Lonnie Zamora and later in the Kalahari incident, play a significant role in understanding the potential origins, intents, and patterns in UFO sightings.

Insignias or symbols on UFOs can serve various purposes:

  1. Identification: Much like aircrafts from different nations bear distinct markings to signify their origin, UFOs, if they are extraterrestrial crafts, might have symbols indicating their place of origin or the entity they represent.
  2. Communication: Symbols can be a universal means of communication. If these crafts are indeed trying to convey a message, the insignias could be a way to communicate intent, origin, or other information.
  3. Decoration: The symbols could be purely decorative, representing the aesthetic preferences of the beings controlling the UFOs. Alternatively, they could serve as a way to make the crafts less threatening to observers.

For many, the similarities between the insignias in different sightings can be a confirmation of the existence of extraterrestrial life.

In the case of the Zamora incident and the Kalahari craft, the similarities in their symbols, despite the time gap and geographical differences, present intriguing questions. Were these sightings of crafts from the same extraterrestrial origin? Or did one incident influence the reports of the other?

Regardless of one’s beliefs, the continuous documentation of symbols and their analysis can be crucial in the ongoing quest to understand the UFO phenomenon. This analysis, combined with technological advances in imaging and detection, can perhaps one day unveil the mystery behind these unidentified flying objects and the messages they might carry.

On April 24, 1964, Deputy Marshal Lonnie Zamora produced a detailed sketch for the U.S. Air Force illustrating an “object” he had witnessed near Socorro, New Mexico. The insignia was located at the center of the ufo.

Fast forward to 1989, another drawing revealed a symbol at the center of the object that bears a striking resemblance to the insignia found on the Kalahari craft: a dome situated above an arrowhead. A minor difference in the two representations, specifically the absence of three dots in Zamora’s sketch, could be attributed to the African Air Force’s closer observation, allowing them to capture the design with increased accuracy.

An upward-pointing arrowhead under a dome can have a few potential meanings:

  1. Ascension or Elevation: The upward-pointing arrow often symbolizes ascension, growth, progress, or a positive direction. Combined with the dome, it might indicate rising above a protective or limiting barrier.
  2. Spiritual Significance: In some cultural or religious contexts, an upward-pointing arrow can symbolize spiritual growth, reaching towards the divine, or aspirations. The dome may represent the heavens or the universe.
  3. Guidance or Directive: The arrow pointing upwards could indicate a directive to move forward or upward, possibly towards a goal or objective. The dome might be a reference point or a starting point.
  4. Positive Outlook: The upward direction typically has positive connotations in many cultures, symbolizing optimism, positivity, or looking towards a brighter future. The dome could symbolize the current state or environment.
  5. Protection or Shelter: The dome might symbolize protection, shelter, or refuge. When combined with the arrow, it can represent the idea of seeking or moving towards safety.
  6. Transition or Transformation: The upward-pointing arrow can indicate change, transition, or transformation. In this context, the dome might represent the current phase or state, with the arrow signifying a move to a new phase.
  7. Origin and Destiny: The dome could symbolize a starting point or origin, while the upward arrow might represent a path or trajectory, indicating a journey from a certain beginning towards a destined path.
  8. Overcoming Obstacles: The arrow piercing through the dome can imply breaking through barriers or overcoming challenges. The dome can represent obstacles or limitations, and the arrow’s direction indicates surmounting them.
  9. Cosmic Connection: The dome can represent Earth or the physical realm, and the arrow might signify a connection to the cosmos or the vastness of space.
  10. Activation or Energy Release: The image might signify an energy source or point of activation. The dome can be the container or source, and the arrow represents the energy being released or activated.
  11. Unity or Integration: The dome and the arrow together can symbolize the integration of two different elements or principles, suggesting balance, harmony, or unity.

In light of the observations made regarding the possible insignia on a UFO, the combination of a dome and an upward arrow might serve as a sophisticated symbol for “Origin and Destiny.” The dome could be interpreted as the starting point, or the origin, from which the journey of the UFO commences. It encapsulates the initial conditions, environment, or even the home from which the vehicle originates. On the other hand, the upward arrow could symbolize the trajectory or path that the UFO is set to follow. This arrow not only suggests movement but also implies a sense of direction and purpose, leading towards a predetermined or destined path. Together, the dome and the upward arrow form a compelling visual message about the UFO’s intended journey—from its origins to its destination.

A Rare Document Surfaces: The 1989 South African Air Force Report

While the Socorro incident of 1964 remains one of the most well-known early sightings featuring a UFO insignia, another lesser-known but equally compelling document surfaced decades later. In 1989, a classified South African Air Force (SAAF) document reportedly described the recovery of an unidentified craft in the Kalahari Desert. What makes this report especially relevant is that it contains a visual representation of an insignia—one that closely mirrors the symbol reported by Lonnie Zamora.

Below is a direct transcription from the recovered document, allegedly classified by the SAAF and later shared with researchers and publications like The Journal of UFO Investigation:

(INFORMATION NOT TO BE DIVULGED – TOP SECRET)

ALIEN BEINGS HELD AT SLEUTH AIR BASE IN SOUTH AFRICA

At 13h03 GMT on 7 May 1989, the naval frigate reported Cape Town HQ headquarters to report an unidentified flying object that appeared on radar heading towards the African continent in a north westerly direction at a calculated speed of 5743 nautical miles per hour. Naval headquarters acknowledged and confirmed that same was being tracked by airborne radar, military ground radar installations, and the international airport at Cape Town.

The object entered South African airspace at 13h52 GMT. Radio contact was attempted with the object, but all communications were unsuccessful. Valhalla Air Force Base was informed and naval frigate (TG102) was placed on alert. The object was tracked at great speeds which would be impossible for military aircraft operating in the area.

At 13h59 GMT, squadron leader [name redacted] reported that they had radar and visual confirmation of the object. The order was given to arm and fire the experimental missile (Frontline 27).

Squadron leader [name redacted] reported that several blinking flashes emanated from the object. The object started vibrating and then headed in a northerly direction. It was then that the second squadron stationed over the Kalahari Desert was ordered to intercept. The men reported seeing the object lose altitude and finally crash. The area was cordoned off and the scene secured by 14h02 GMT.

Further investigation revealed the object was made from a material unknown to scientists and had strange markings on the side (see illustration). Two bodies were found, not of earthly origin. The bodies are being kept in a deep freeze chamber at Valhalla AFB. Further information pending investigation and retrieval.

“PART OF THE VARIOUS S. AFRICAN DOCUMENTS SUPPLIED QUEST’S INFORMANT.
AN EYEWITNESS WHO ASSISTED THE RECOVERY OF THE CRAFT FORWARDED THESE DIAGRAMS TO QUEST.
(THE INSIGNIA IS NEARLY IDENTICAL TO THAT SEEN BY POLICE OFFICER IN SOCORRO, NEW MEXICO)”

This document not only mirrors the structural and symbolic elements of Zamora’s report but reinforces the possibility of a consistent extraterrestrial visual language—a kind of interstellar branding, if you will. The reappearance of the dome-and-arrowhead configuration across both continents and decades apart invites serious consideration.

Could this be a calling card? A territorial marker? Or is it something more—perhaps a symbol of intent, authority, or universal navigation? Whatever its meaning, this shared symbol remains a compelling thread linking multiple encounters in the ever-expanding UFO documentation.

Whether these symbols represent communication, command, culture, or technology, they offer a tantalizing glimpse into something far greater than a single sighting or isolated incident. The consistency of such markings across time and geography invites deeper inquiry—and perhaps, in time, full disclosure. Until then, every documented insignia is a potential clue—etched not just into craft hulls, but into the historical puzzle we’re only beginning to piece together.
