Bledsoe has said that unusual experiences began during childhood, including sightings of strange lights and aerial objects. According to Bledsoe he was fishing along the Cape Fear River with his teenage son Chris Jr. and several coworkers when they observed unusual lights in the sky. The objects appeared as glowing orbs that moved silently and performed movements unlike conventional aircraft. Another widely discussed aspect of Bledsoe’s account is his claim that a serious chronic illness he suffered for many years, identified as Crohn’s disease, was healed during one of his encounters with the phenomena. Bledsoe has said that during an experience a luminous orb directed energy toward him and that the symptoms of the illness disappeared afterward. He has stated that medical examinations later confirmed a remission of the condition.
