Michio Kaku
Dr. Michio Kaku is a theoretical physicist and popular science communicator who has shared his perspective on the topic of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) and unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Kaku’s take on the subject is based on his knowledge of physics and the scientific method, and he has offered a number of theories and explanations for the sightings and encounters reported by military personnel and others.
Kaku has suggested that many of the sightings and encounters could be explained by advanced human technology, rather than extraterrestrial life. In a 2018 interview with Newsweek, Kaku stated that “we have to keep an open mind, but we should also keep in mind the fact that most UFOs can be identified.” He suggested that many sightings could be explained by experimental aircraft or drones, or by natural phenomena such as meteorites or lightning.
Kaku has acknowledged that some sightings and encounters defy known laws of physics. In a 2017 interview with CNN, Kaku stated that “there are certain types of sightings that cannot be easily explained, that involve what is called ‘aerodynamics anomalies.’ These are objects that don’t have any obvious signs of propulsion, no wings, no exhaust, no control surfaces, and yet they’re able to maneuver in ways that seem to defy the laws of physics.”
Kaku has proposed a potential scientific explanation for some sightings. In the same CNN interview, Kaku suggested that the objects could be experimental drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that are being developed by the US military. He stated that “the next generation of drones will not have visible engines, they will be based on some form of field propulsion, and they will have the ability to hover, make hairpin turns, fly at hypersonic speeds, and so on.”
Kaku has emphasized the importance of gathering more data and evidence on the topic. In the Newsweek interview, he stated that “we need more data, more analysis, and more critical thinking on this topic.” He suggested that scientists and researchers should be involved in investigating and analyzing the sightings and encounters, and that the data should be made available to the public.
Other experts have weighed in on the topic of UAPs and UFOs, with some offering more skeptical perspectives. Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, has stated that “there’s never been any evidence that we’ve been visited by anything,” and that most sightings can be explained by natural phenomena or human-made objects.
Several books have been written on the topic of UAPs and UFOs, including “UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record” by Leslie Kean and “The UFO Phenomenon: Fact, Fantasy and Disinformation” by John Michael Greer. These books offer different perspectives on the sightings and encounters, and the larger questions of their potential extraterrestrial origins and government cover-ups.
